Lactuca Indica

Indian Lettuce is native to China and has been growing since ancient times.

Originally spread across Asia via Chinese immigrants, today the lettuce is cultivated in many tropical regions on a small scale.

I'm very useful!

  • Lettuce is a powerhouse of nutrients! It is a rich source of fibre, vitamins and minerals like iron, Potassium, Vitamin A and C

  • Promotes sleep: the lactucarium in lettuce is known for its sedative and analgesic properties​

  • Fodder for rabbits, pigs, poultry and even fish in Asia

  • Young leaves are consumed as a leaf vegetable in salads

  • Used in traditional medicines as an aid to digestion

  • Also often eaten when stir fried or in hotpot

How to grow me?

~ BEST GROWING CONDITIONS ~

  • needs 40-45 days to grow

  • seeds cannot germinate above 25°C or below 15°C

  • optimum temperature is 20°C

  • need lots of water (water once or twice a day)
